The Memory Café was set up in January 2015 as a joint venture between The Vale of Belvoir Rotary Club and All Saints Church as a Community Project to give sufferers of Dementia and their carers from Cotgrave, Bingham, Radcliffe and the surrounding villages two hours of fun with free refreshments and to help them with their memory problems.
We meet on the last Thursday of every month in All Saints Church, Cotgrave between 2pm and 4pm. Each monthly meeting has a theme such as Anniversaries & Birthdays, Films & Film Stars, Easter & Spring, Washdays, Toys & Games, Schooldays, Fairs & Fetes and Royalty. The afternoon usually starts with a cup of tea and then a presentation of the theme is given with audience participation and the use of video, stills, artefacts, handouts and displays. There are free refreshments of sandwiches and cakes half way through the meeting and the usual sing-song of old favourites to finish off the day.
